Meet Taly

Founder & CEO

I am dedicated to helping people who have lost their compass in life, feel like they're ready to give up, and think there is nothing left they can do. I am a true believer that our darkest hours allow us to know light and without them, we are are no better off. My passion is inspiring hope when other avenues feel like they've been exhausted or inadequate. I got you!

My experience ranges from higher mental health to working heavily with addiction and dual diagnosis, by my areas of specialized training and high interest are devoted to working with both simple and complex trauma, existential matters, and issues surrounding sex and sexuality. I have worked both inpatient, outpatient, and Intensive levels (hospitalization) of care throughout my career and have eight years of administrative experience directing several facilities. My personal approach leans heavily on CBT, psychoanlysis, existential models, and hypnotic modalities.  These are just the modalities I tend to favor although each client is assessed individually.

The Full story

Graduated from Florida state University with a degree in both English Literature and Psychology. I completed my Masters at Florida International university.  trained at the Institute of Essential Change for Clinical Sexology and am a certified DBT and EMDR practitioner. I am also trained by Eric Gentry in Forward Facing Tauma. Much of my career has been working heavily with sexual disorders, addictions including process addictions, and domestic abuse. I currently work heavily with issues related to trauma and co-dependency and recently, I have been doing a lot of work with shoplifting as these are highly underserved communities and specific treatment for these issues are rarely available or even recognized. My approach is unique in that I draw from hypnotic techniques designed specifically to access subconscious material that is typically harder to obtain because it is not in our immediate perview. Hypnotic approaches tend to provide more rapid shifts and breakthroughs.

How Your Pic Counseling Came to Be

Your pic counseling is a labor of passion, originally born from my love of painting as I began to discover myself and the healing properties of art, aesthetics, imagination and utilizing all your senses with intention. When I was a client in therapy, I always thought of myself as a “tough client” because I was eternally resistant to soo many forms of therapy. I wasn’t consciously resisting these modalities, I simply never felt a complete understanding of why I did certain things and how I viewed the world and all its colorful intricacies. Most of all, I would leave therapy feeling more lost than ever because I wasn’t receiving that light bulb moment people talk about. As I experimented with various styles, locations and therapists, I began feeling worse and worse, like something greater had to be wrong with me and I am just never going to “get it”. I left feeling more flawed and hopeless than ever.

To this day, I can only truly identify two things that create true relaxation for me to provide me the sense of inner calmness I desperately needed to combat my outer war Zone. My first discovery was sound healing with crystal singing bowls which I highly recommend anyone try. There’s a fantastic phenomenon that stimulates crystals in your ears which actually change the vibration of your brain waves. While some people don’t care for it, for me it was extraordinary.

The second discovery was painting.

I’m ironically not the greatest artist given my entire background in arts has only been rooted in dancing and movement (performing arts). I was never a “visual art” person. When I started painting, at the time I didn’t really understand why or even what was happening for me. But each time I picked up a brush, I felt relaxed and lighthearted afterwards despite the fact that my artwork was horrible. Naturally when we enjoy something, we continue to repeat it as humans, we are wired to seek pleasure and avoid pain. Most of the time, we continue to do things intuitively or instinctively without truly understanding the mechanism behind what makes it work for us.

As I got deeper into painting and art, I began to question what is it about doing this, something I’m relatively not talented in, that is producing such calmness and wholeness, even if it’s temporary. Needless to say my collection of brushes grew and I stocked up on canvases as though the world was running out.  I realized that painting was entirely abstract, mine to design, and at any given moment I could design my thoughts and my world exactly the way I wanted to. While painting, several things happen simultaneously that seem to produce the calming effect. Painting provides a non-verbal outlet for self-expression. Sometimes, emotions and thoughts can be challenging to articulate verbally, but art allows individuals to communicate and explore their inner world through color, form, and symbolism.Engaging in painting often involves a state of mindfulness, where individuals focus on the present moment. The act of painting requires attention to details, colors, and strokes, helping to shift the focus away from external stressors and promote a sense of presence. Art can serve as a channel for emotional release. The process of applying paint to canvas can be cathartic, allowing individuals to release pent-up emotions, reduce stress, and gain a sense of emotional relief. The freedom that comes with creating provides a sense of empowerment. Individuals can take control of the artistic process, deciding what to paint, how to paint it, and what colors to use. This sense of agency can be empowering, especially for those who may feel a lack of control in other aspects of life. While this is not a program about art or an art therapy center, what I learned from my personal journey was the power of creating is an infinite form of catharsis and healing that enables individuals to confront and process unresolved emotions or experiences. The act of transforming feelings into visual representations can contribute to emotional healing and a sense of resolution.

I leave you with this story of my journey.

Life's journey had presented a series of challenges and uncertainties, leaving me feeling like a blank canvas waiting to be filled. Traditional paths and conventional wisdom seemed like predetermined strokes that didn't quite resonate with the essence of who I  was.

In search of a way to navigate the intricacies of life, I discovered the therapeutic realm of painting. The blank canvas became a metaphor for the open canvas of life, and each stroke of the brush represented a choice, a decision, or a moment of self-expression.

As I dipped the brush into the palette of life's experiences, the colors on the canvas reflected emotions, dreams, and aspirations. The canvas, once daunting in its emptiness, transformed into a tapestry of possibilities. It was a space where I could design the world exactly as desired—a world filled with joy, resilience, and personal truths.

The creative process mirrored life's journey. Sometimes, bold and vibrant strokes represented moments of courage and audacity, while gentle blends of pastels captured moments of introspection and serenity. Each layer of paint told a story—a story of overcoming obstacles, embracing passions, and discovering the beauty within.

Just as in life, mistakes happened on the canvas. Unintended smudges and unexpected drips mirrored the unpredictability of challenges. Yet, I learned that even these imperfections contributed to the unique masterpiece being created. Embracing the flaws became an integral part of the process.

Through the act of painting, I found a sense of agency—a realization that life was not a predetermined template but an evolving canvas waiting to be shaped. The canvas became a sanctuary where thoughts, dreams, and fears could be expressed freely without judgment.

The therapeutic journey unfolded not in a single stroke but in the layers, textures, and depths of the canvas. With each stroke, I discovered more about personal values, strengths, and resilience. Life, like the canvas, was a work in progress, and the evolving masterpiece was a testament to the artistry of living authentically.

And so, in the studio of life, I Continued to paint—a continuous process of designing and redesigning the picture, finding beauty in the chaos, and realizing that the power to shape one's destiny was held within the strokes of intention and the colors of self-discovery. The canvas of life, once blank and uncertain, became a vibrant, evolving masterpiece—a reflection of  my journey to create a life that resonated with authenticity and purpose.
